We left bottles of Ocean, Isla, Rosé, and Vanilla on benches near Brookfield Place, under trees by the Irish Hunger Memorial, along the walking path that hugs the river. Flyers quietly appeared near North Cove Marina, and subtle scent trails floated past Battery Park Esplanade just after sunrise.

Those who walked early caught it first. A hint of orange and bergamot, like sunlight. A trace of coconut and jasmine, drifting near the ferry docks. One bottle, still sealed, was left beside a book on a bench.
